A major controversy has erupted in Maharashtra after self-styled godman Ashok Kharat, popularly known as a “Bhondu Baba,” was named in a shocking sex scandal. The issue reached the state assembly, where Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis addressed the matter and assured strict action against the accused and all those involved.
Speaking in the assembly, the Chief Minister revealed that a total of eight FIRs have been registered against Kharat so far. He also confirmed that around 35 objectionable videos linked to the case have surfaced, which are currently under investigation. The scale of the allegations has raised serious concerns about exploitation carried out under the guise of blind faith.
Fadnavis made it clear that the government will not tolerate such crimes and that the accused will be given the harshest possible punishment under the law. He further added that anyone found associated with Kharat in these activities will also face strict legal action.
During the court proceedings, the government lawyer made even more disturbing claims, stating that the accused baba had allegedly performed human sacrifices of five individuals in the name of superstition. These allegations have intensified public outrage and brought renewed attention to the issue of blind faith and fraudulent godmen in the state.
At present, Ashok Kharat is in police custody, which has been extended until March 29 as authorities continue their investigation. Police officials are examining digital evidence, victim statements, and possible connections to other individuals involved in the case.
The incident has sparked widespread anger among citizens, with many demanding strict laws and stronger enforcement against such individuals. Social activists have also called for increased awareness to prevent people from falling victim to such fraudulent practices.As the investigation continues, the case is expected to unfold further, potentially exposing a larger network behind these crimes.
