Maharashtra Ladki Bahin Yojana Update: 1.05 Crore Women Removed, Beneficiaries Reduced to 1.48 Crore

The government of Maharashtra has made significant changes to the beneficiary list of the Ladki Bahin Yojana after a large-scale verification process. The scheme, which was launched to provide financial support to women, initially had around 2.53 crore registered beneficiaries across the state.

1.05 Crore Names Removed After Verification

After reviewing the data and eligibility conditions, the government has reportedly removed nearly 1.05 crore names from the list. Officials said the step was taken to eliminate ineligible beneficiaries, duplicate entries, and applicants who did not meet the scheme’s criteria. With these changes, the total number of beneficiaries is expected to come down to about 1.48 crore women.

Budget Reduced from ₹45,000 Crore to ₹26,500 Crore

The revision in the beneficiary list has also significantly impacted the financial allocation for the scheme. Earlier, the government estimated that implementing the scheme would require nearly ₹45,000 crore. However, after the removal of ineligible beneficiaries, the estimated budget requirement has now been reduced to around ₹26,500 crore.

Aim of the Scheme

The Ladki Bahin Yojana was introduced to strengthen the financial stability of women and support their household needs. With the revised list and budget allocation, the government aims to ensure that the benefits of the scheme reach only the eligible women while maintaining better financial management of the program.
