Court Acquits Kejriwal in Delhi Liquor Policy Case
In a significant development in the Delhi liquor policy case, a court has acquitted Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) chief Arvind Kejriwal, offering major relief to the former Delhi Chief Minister. The case, which had dominated headlines for months, revolved around alleged irregularities in the implementation of the excise policy.
Kejriwal Says “Constitution Defeated Modi”
Soon after the verdict, Kejriwal addressed party workers and supporters, stating that it was not he but the Constitution that had defeated Prime Minister Narendra Modi. He described the case as politically motivated and accused the Centre of misusing investigative agencies to target opposition leaders. According to Kejriwal, the court’s decision proves that democratic institutions in India remain strong.
BJP Alleges Evidence Was Destroyed
The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), however, rejected this claim and maintained that the acquittal does not amount to a clean chit. Party leaders alleged that crucial evidence had already been destroyed, which led to the court’s inability to secure a conviction. BJP spokespersons insisted that serious questions still remain regarding the liquor policy’s formulation and execution.
Political Impact and Ongoing Debate
The verdict has reignited political tensions between the BJP and the Aam Aadmi Party. While AAP supporters are celebrating the acquittal as vindication, the BJP continues to question the circumstances surrounding the case.
Legal observers believe the development could influence the political narrative in the coming months. However, with both sides standing firm, the Delhi liquor policy controversy appears far from over.
