India Lockdown Rumours: Government Denies Any Plan, Hardeep Puri Calls Fuel Crisis Claims False

Over the past few days, rumours about a possible lockdown have been doing the rounds in different parts of the country, leaving many people confused and a bit worried. The speculation picked up after reports of petrol pump shortages and concerns over LPG supply started surfacing, especially on social media.

Things escalated further after Prime Minister Narendra Modi, in a recent speech, spoke about the need to stay prepared in a way similar to the COVID period if the situation ever demands it. While the statement was meant as a precautionary note, it seems to have been interpreted by some as a hint towards possible restrictions, which only added fuel to the rumours.

The government, however, has now stepped in to clear the air. Officials have made it clear that there is no proposal to impose any kind of lockdown, and no such discussion is currently underway. According to them, the situation does not call for any drastic measures, and people should not panic.

Union Petroleum Minister Hardeep Singh Puri also addressed the issue directly, calling the claims “completely false.” He said that there is no nationwide fuel shortage and that supply chains are functioning as they should. His remarks were aimed at reassuring the public and putting an end to the growing uncertainty.

While there may have been some localised supply issues in certain areas, officials insist that these are temporary and not a sign of any larger crisis. They have also urged people to avoid spreading unverified information, especially at a time when rumours can travel faster than facts. For now, the message from the government is quite straightforward: there is no lockdown on the horizon, and the situation remains under control.
