‘Dhurandhar’ Row in Delhi Assembly: BJP Targets Arvind Kejriwal Over ‘Sheesh Mahal’ Allegations

The political atmosphere in Delhi has heated up, with the term “Dhurandhar” currently gaining attention due to popular culture now finding its way into sharp political exchanges inside the Delhi Assembly.

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has launched a strong attack on former Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, drawing a controversial comparison between him and the infamous bandit Rehman Dakait. The remark has sparked intense debate, adding a dramatic tone to the already charged political environment.

Delhi’s Deputy Chief Minister Parvesh Singh Verma led the criticism, accusing Kejriwal and his administration of misusing public money. Speaking in the Assembly, Verma alleged that large amounts of taxpayer funds were spent extravagantly, particularly referring to the so-called “Sheesh Mahal” a term used by BJP leaders to describe the renovation of the Chief Minister’s residence.

He further claimed that while the government projects itself as pro-people, its actions tell a different story. According to Verma, “public money has been looted,” and such spending does not align with the promises made to Delhi’s citizens.

Adding to the controversy, BJP leaders have also raised questions about an alleged “VVIP boat scam,” claiming irregularities and misuse of funds in related projects. These allegations have intensified the political confrontation between the BJP and the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), which was led by Kejriwal during his tenure as Chief Minister.

On the other hand, AAP leaders have consistently denied such allegations in the past, calling them politically motivated and aimed at diverting attention from key governance issues.

As the war of words escalates, the use of strong metaphors like “Dhurandhar” reflects how political discourse is becoming increasingly aggressive. With elections always around the corner in the capital, such statements are likely to shape public perception and keep the political temperature high in Delhi.
