Mamata Banerjee Announces 10 Promises: ₹1,500–₹1,700 for Women, Focus on Youth and Farmers

West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee has rolled out a new manifesto built around welfare and everyday economic support, aiming to connect directly with households across the state.

One of the biggest highlights of the announcement is financial assistance for women. The plan proposes a monthly support of ₹1,500 for women in the general category and ₹1,700 for women from SC/ST communities. The idea, according to party leaders, is to ease the burden of rising household expenses and give women more financial independence.

The manifesto also turns its focus toward the youth, promising ₹1,500 as financial assistance, along with a broader push for employment opportunities and skill development. While the details are still emerging, the messaging clearly aims to address concerns around jobs and income among young voters.

Farmers have also been included in the plan, with assurances of strengthened welfare schemes and continued support for agriculture. At the same time, the government has promised to expand its ‘pucca house’ initiative, targeting families who are still living in inadequate housing conditions.

Beyond direct financial support, the manifesto talks about improving governance, education, and healthcare services. There is an emphasis on making public services more accessible and efficient, especially for those who depend heavily on government support systems. Senior citizens, too, are part of this broader welfare vision.

What stands out in this manifesto is its attempt to strike a balance between welfare measures and development promises. Political observers say the approach reflects a strategy to appeal to multiple sections of society at once.As campaigning gathers momentum, it remains to be seen how these promises shape voter sentiment in the coming weeks.
